Early in 2026, while exploring what we believed to be a decommissioned – and now abandoned – government research facility, we discovered a secret room, hidden deep underground. Inside were shelves full of VHS video tapes. Hundreds of them. All covered in dust, cobwebs, dirt, grime, and mould. They had been there a long time. After cleaning up and watching several of these tapes, it was immediately clear that we had stumbled upon something that was never meant to be seen. Something that could rival the craziest, most heinous, myths and conspiracies you can think of. Something that is potentially so disturbing, and such a crime against the people, we just had to share it here.

And who are we? We're a group of concerned citizens, concerned with investigating and exposing those clandestine and sinister government organizations and projects that seek to take our money and spend it on weapons of war and destruction, in an often-frivolous attempt to gain more power and influence throughout the world. One of these organizations – that we have seen come up time and time again, and which you will see is relevant here – is DARPA.

What is DARPA? DARPA – the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency – is a specialized agency within the DOD (Department of Defense) tasked with developing technology to win wars that haven't happened yet. They have funded research into mind control, psychic espionage, moon bases, insect drones, mass civilian surveillance, and so much more. They have even attempted to train an army of cats to spy on foreign enemies. All at a cost of untold billions. Billions that could have been spent on healthcare, education, and countless other public services.

These organizations and projects prove just how far the government is willing to go to get just one step further ahead, no matter the financial, ethical, moral, or human cost. And they prove just how important it is for people like us to keep exposing them. We the people have a right to know what our government – which we elect to supposedly represent us – is doing, not just with our money, but with our reputation as a country.

Which brings us to The Skeleton Key Tapes. What do we know so far? Not much. Why do we think it is important then? Why do we think it is even real? Remember that secret room we mentioned? When we say it was hidden, it was really hidden. We suspect that it was only because of some recent violent weather events, including several mild earthquakes, that a way to access the underground levels of the facility even presented itself. And even then, it still took us an entire week to actually find that secret room.

While we know from our sources that the facility we were exploring was being used for government research, we also know that it was operating as a civilian site as well. It is a certainty that most people working there would not have been aware of what was going on underground. Anything that well-hidden, must have been hidden for a good reason. We didn't find anything else down there – not a single scrap or shred of evidence to tell us anything – so why these tapes were left to rot in this room, we simply do not know yet.

So, what do we actually know at this point? We know that there are hundreds of tapes, each containing many individual videos. And we know that each one of these videos features an embedded overlay, like the one below, which we will now examine.

Starting in the bottom right, we see a simple date and time stamp, which we reasonably assume to be the date and time when these videos were recorded. From this, we can tell that most of the videos have been edited. This is evident from jump cuts in the videos, which coincide with changes to the time stamps, suggesting footage has been removed. Most videos so far have been between one and a half and three minutes long. The longest was just over nine minutes. Looking at the timestamps, it appears that none of the videos we have seen would have been more than 10 minutes long in their original, unedited, form, since none of them have a start or end time with more than 10 minutes between them. So far, we have only seen videos from 1995.

Moving across to the bottom left, we see the glaring DOD//DARPA tag. We have seen this in many other videos over the years. It simply identifies the video as being part of a DOD//DARPA project. Beneath that we see APRD-04 tagged. We don't know what this means currently. It is possibly an acronym for the organisation that was being funded by DARPA to undertake the project in question.

Moving up to the top left, we see the word INSERTION followed by several numbers. Again, we can't know what this means exactly, but INSERTION is likely the noun given to each instance of a video being recorded, with the numbers being simply a numbering system to identify which INSERTION this video is. Beneath that we see what appears to be a name, which we assume to be the identity of the person filming the video, given the inclusion of the letters ID. Interestingly, in every video we have seen, nobody ever acknowledges the camera or appears to even be aware of it.

Moving across to the top right, we find what is perhaps the most important section. The TS//SAR shown here stands for TOP SECRET//SPECIAL ACCESS REQUIRED. Again, this is something we have seen in many other videos over the years. It is to be expected for videos that are part of a DARPA project, and it reinforces the idea that this is a genuine project, worthy of being investigated and shared, especially when we see what is written underneath. SKELETON KEY. This is undoubtedly the name of this project. Project Skeleton Key.

Project Skeleton Key is not a project any of us has heard of before. We have already submitted several Freedom of Information requests regarding this project and have received nothing in return. There is no "official record" of it. This is not entirely surprising since there isn't an "official record" of many projects, especially the darkest and most insidious ones. Why would any government want to admit they ever existed? Usually though, we can find something, somewhere, that proves their existence beyond a reasonable doubt. We can find nothing regarding Project Skeleton Key. Not a single thing. No paper trail. No evidence at all. No evidence beyond these tapes, that is. And we don't know why these tapes were left in that research facility when everything else was cleared out. Was it a mere oversight? Or was that room so secret, it was even secret from the people working on the project itself? That seems unlikely since if you look at the main image on this website, you can see a piece of paper stuck to the video shelves – a piece of paper that clearly says Skeleton Key, shows a logo, and features a list of signatures. Who are those people? Are they still alive? We just don't know.

And what of the tapes themselves? Besides everything we have already discussed, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to their existence. Nothing to tell us what was being filmed and why. There is no consistency to the subjects, places, or events depicted. Most of the videos show nothing but mundane, everyday things. But then there are those that show something else. Something mysterious, weird, strange, dark, and sinister. Something that, as we said at the top of this section, was not meant to be seen. Are those things the reason the tapes exist? Is that the point of Project Skeleton Key? Again, we just don't know. But those mysterious, weird, strange, dark and sinister videos are the ones we will share with you. We are sure the answers to all our questions are in those videos somewhere. And all we can do is hope that if we watch enough of them, everything will be revealed.
